You must have 6 x Colour ID photos on a white background, 2 x Certified copies of your ID, Doctors Med (Annex 17) and a log of all your sea time experience (Annex 16). Please complete prescribed forms and attach it to all your other documentation.
You must have either 25 hours of day sea time signed off by a qualified skipper (Copy of the certificate of the skipper that signed of the experience must be added to your documentation) with an approved course,
or a minimum of 100 hours day sea time experience (accumulated on your own with an approved course)
or 50 hours day sea time signed off by a qualified skipper (Copy of the certificate of the skipper that signed of the experience must be added to your documentation without an approve course),
for a Category E (1 N.Mile) course.
You must write the prescribed exams and undergo the practical evaluation on a vessel.
This experience can be on any Category E (1 N.Mile) vessel.
Attached find an example demonstrating how the sea time must be logged on the Annex 16. By sea time is meant the hours you have spent on a vessel as a crew or skipper. Please be advised that a Jet-ski is a vessel that is classified under the small vessel policy of SAMSA, as a vessel less than 9 meters in length.

The course includes registration fee at SAMSA, your books, presenter’s fee, examiner’s fee, theoretical exam and practical exam. (We also supply the boat and fuel)
